Floating drapes — dressing walls, dividing spaces
A floating drape is a fabric panel or curtain hung freely in a space—in front of a wall to dress it, between two areas to divide them, or in place of a fixed partition. It influences the perception of a space without altering its structure: it can divide it, soften it, or give it a sense of materiality.
Its uses are varied. As a wall covering, it can cover an entire wall or a portion of it, adding color, texture, and sound absorption. As a space divider, it defines boundaries without closing them off—a reception area within a workspace, a dining room from a living room, a hallway from a bedroom—with the lightness of a textile that a plaster partition lacks. It can also serve as a backdrop, a decorative screen, or a discreet cover.
Any fabric is possible—velvet, linen, jacquard, silk, lightweight voile, technical acoustic fabric—depending on the desired effect: opacity, translucency, sound absorption, visual comfort. The drapery can be gathered, pleated, stretched, or left to hang freely. Its hanging system—ceiling rail, tensioned cable, wall rod, floor guide for great heights—is selected based on the fabric, function, and context.
We work with all sizes and heights, using appropriate mounting systems. Installation is managed on-site in coordination with the construction teams.
